Seafood software provider Maritech casts its net wider
Maritech, which provides cloud-based software solutions for the seafood industry, has announced an expansion into new markets in Europe and Asia.
The Norway-based company, which lists major salmon farmers such as Mowi, SalMar, and Grieg Seafood among its customers, currently has its technology deployed in more than 500 businesses in nine countries.
It said in a press release that it is now positioned to meet the growing global demand for innovative cloud-based solutions that enhance efficiency, flexibility, and profitability.
A pivotal year
“2024 marks a pivotal year for us as we take the step to become truly global,” said Klas Vangen, newly appointed general manager for Europe and Asia. “Over the past six to eight years, we’ve experienced incredible growth. This year, we’ve seen increasing interest across the global seafood sector in digitalising and professionalising daily operations. That makes this the perfect time to expand into new markets.”
Maritech was acquired by United States company CAI Software in February, expanding Maritech’s network and relationships, and thus providing additional support to enter new markets.
A natural step
“Our existing seafood customers have strong connections with markets across Europe and Asia,” said Maritech commercial boss Per Alfred Holte. “It’s a natural step for us to follow them into these regions, strengthening their operations while building relationships with new customers.
“I am happy that Klas Vangen, who has been a key player in Maritech’s sales success for the past six years, will lead this new phase of international growth. Under his leadership, Maritech will build a dedicated team to increase awareness, attract new logos, and solidify the company’s position in the global seafood industry.”
Maritech Eye
The company’s solutions cover seafood processing, import and export, and logistics.
Its Maritech Eye product detects and documents blood spots, gaping, winter wounds, melanin, Salmofan (flesh colour), fat (salmon), nematodes, and species (white fish fillets + round fish) at industrial speed during processing.
The company says that as Maritech Eye scans the fish early in the production process, processors will get a more sustainable production due to reduced waste and improved resource productivity. They can allocate premium quality for price premium products, while the rest of the fish can be used optimally in other product segments – improving production planning through fact-based decisions.
