Fresh look for Loch Duart
Sutherland and Uists salmon farmer Loch Duart has unveiled new branding and a re-designed website.
“Our twenty-first year in operation proved to be a landmark year for Loch Duart, marked by an expansion of our direct-to-customer sales through master fishmongers and online delivery specialists across the UK, and the purchase of our own processing and packaging plant in Dingwall, creating 40 new jobs for the local area. For the first time in our company history, we will be in control of our own salmon at every step of the way from egg to plate,” the company said on social media.
“While we continue to farm in the same small scale, low impact way we did when we started 21 years ago, our new branding reflects just how far Loch Duart has grown to become an independent producer of quality, Scottish farmed salmon, which truly is unrivalled.”
‘Unrivalled’ salmon
The new gold-on-green branding is centred around a shield with the words “Unrivalled Scottish salmon” at the top and is accompanied by a video which can be viewed on the company’s LinkedIn page.
The re-branding follows a year of change for the company, which produces around 6,000 tonnes of salmon annually.
Last February it was taken over by sustainable investor Vision Ridge Partners, a firm based in Colorado and New York which already had a stake in Loch Duart.
Hybrid pioneer
In May it bought the mothballed processing factory in Dingwall previously owned by the now-defunct Edinburgh Salmon Company, and in November it was named as one of the London Stock Exchange Group’s 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain.
In December, aquaculture equipment supplier Scale AQ revealed that Loch Duart would become the first salmon farmer in Scotland to use a hybrid feed barge combining battery and diesel power. The barge is due for delivery in the spring.
