On Friday, the 110-metre long and 24.6-metre wide ship was handed over to Seistar Holding, which is owned 50-50 by aquaculture services company Bakke Brothers from Austevoll and salmon heavyweight Lerøy Seafood Group.

In two weeks, the new vessel will enter Norwegian waters.

Here Tore Bakke hoists the Norwegian flag, while the Turkish flag goes in the opposite direction.

"The vessel will first be prepared at home for a good 14 days, and once the approval is in place, it will go straight to work for Lerøy," Tore Bakke from Br. Bakke told Fish Farming Expert's Norwegian sister Kyst.no on Friday.

Large capacity

The wellboat is massive with its 8,000m3 tank capacity with an associated deadweight of 12,000 tonnes, and 4,000m3 of fresh water storage. According to the shipping company, the vessel is the largest of its kind.

Seigrunn is designed using the Clean Design approach for extra focus on hygiene, zero emissions of cleaning agents, and reuse of components. The vessel has hybrid power, and can treat up to three pens at a time separately.

Large parts of technology and equipment are supplied by MMC First Process and designed by Salt Ship Design. The vessel was built at the Cemre Shipyard in Turkey.
