MH to invest $5 million in Aysén

The Chilean system of environmental assessment received two projects belonging to Marine Harvest Chile aimed to increase their production by 6,000 tonnes per year.

Published Modified

The first project aims to expand the fish biomass of the farming site Izaza, to produce 5,500 tonnes from locally produced smolts. To achieve this goal, the site will require 14 metal cages of 40 x 40 x 20m or 24 circular cages of 30 x 30 x 20m. The upgraded farm will also have a live-in barge and a floating platform for the treatment of mortality (silage).

The second scheme intends to increase the biomass at the farming site Canalizo to 6,000 tonnes per cycle.

If both projects gain approval they would require a combined investment of around US$ 5 million.
