The jury for the award, which was presented at one of Norway’s biggest for aquaculture industry conferences, in Stord last night, praised the magazine’s “prolonged commitment, which has taken the industry one step further and has been an example for others”.

They also commented on the academic strength, breadth and versatility of the magazine’s coverage, and for “closely following everything new in the industry and being quick to spread their knowledge to others”.

Editor Pål Mugaas Jensen said he was honoured to collect the award. “Previous prize-winners are all people who have meant a lot to the industry,” he observed.

On collecting the prize, which was a painting, he thanked a number of people for their help in achieving the award – including the magazine’s first editor and founder, Olaf Hansen and the current owner and managing editor, Gustav Erik Blaalid for transforming it “from a Norwegian professional journal, to become an international media company with farming-related subject material and news in both journals and online in three languages”.

He was also quick to give credit to those outside the organisation who have helped over the last four decades.

“I must thank all our external contributors: farmers, researchers, lawyers, economists and many others throughout our 40 years who have contributed articles, interviews and valuable insights," he added.

“And I finally must thank this exciting industry, which will only become more important in the coming years,” he concluded.
