Loch Duart celebrates Food and Drink Company of the Year award
Loch Duart Salmon is celebrating after it scooped the Food & Drink Company of the Year title at the Made In Scotland Awards.
The company beat rival producer The Scottish Salmon Company to land the prize, which was presented at the awards event at Glasgow Science Centre last night.
Judges at the awards, which are organised by Scottish Business Insider and are in their second year, were looking for examples of innovation in manufacturing processes to improve profitability as well as product development, marketing and sales performance.
Based in Sutherland, Loch Duart produces more than 5,000 tonnes of high quality fish per year which is sold to leading hotels, restaurants and retailers in the UK and worldwide. Its produces attracts a substantial premium which has been achieved by building a successful brand top chefs choose to specify.
The high quality of the salmon is achieved through farming practices that put sustainability, environmental stewardship and fish welfare at the core. All salmon are reared to the same standard, endorsed by the French quality assurance benchmark Label Rouge, and are RSPCA assured.
Loch Duart salmon is exported to more than 20 countries around the world, including the USA, Japan, UAE, Bahrain, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Cyprus, Poland, Eire, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore and Lebanon.
