Lyon, who has worked in the aquaculture sector for more than 25 years, joins from another salmon farmer, Multi X. Lyon was chief executive of Multi X for 11 years until January 2021 and has since been a director of the company.

Australis, which is owned by Chinese group Joyvio, said the appointment would help it strengthen its position as one of the main salmon producing companies in southern Chile.

The company generates employment for more than 2,000 people and is one of the country’s most prominent salmon exporters. Australis harvested 59,500 gutted weight tonnes of Atlantic salmon in 2020, making it the country’s sixth biggest Atlantic salmon producer that year.

Thanks to outgoing boss

“Australis Seafoods thanks Ricardo Misraji for all the work he has done over the last 11 years as corporate general manager, a period which included the opening of the subsidiary Trapananda Seafarms LLC in Miami, United States, the start of operations in the Magallanes region, including the acquisition of the Torres del Paine plant in Punta Arenas and the construction of the Dumestre plant in Puerto Natales, among other challenging projects, and wishes him much success in the challenges he takes on,” the company said.

Misraji will remain with the company throughout June to ensure a smooth transition of the position to Lyon.
