According to the company, this certification - which lasts for three years - validates their goal of aiming for the sustainable production of salmon.

To get this recognition, the farming site underwent a review of protocols by external auditors on site, who tested the quality of their processes and the sustainability of their productive work - demonstrating, for example, that their workers are trained and fairly paid for their work and that the communities nearby can find out how the company works and what their standards are.

Marine Harvest Chile is already working to certify another two sites, Caleta Velero and Playa Astillero,  under the ASC standards before the end of this year: .

In addition, the certification process will be further extended to other productive areas, both in the regions of Los Lagos and Aysen, in compliance with the overall commitment of the company to certify all its facilities by the 2020.
