Chinese investor completes Australis takeover

Chinese company Joyvio has completed its deal for the US$920 million takeover of Chilean salmon farmer Australis Seafood.

Joyvio, which is part of the Legend Holdings conglomerate, had its offer for 99.838% of the outstanding shares in Australis accepted yesterday.

Australis produces around 60,000 tonnes of salmon, a figure that according the Undercurrent News Legend hopes to quickly increase to 100,000 tonnes.

Legend is an investment holding company with interests in finance, property, and information technology, and the controlling shareholder of computer technology company Lenovo.

Joyvio is Legend’s food industry investment vehicle. Its interests include blueberries, kiwi fruit, wine and tea.
