NRS harvested almost 50,000 tonnes last year
Fish farmer Norway Royal Salmon (NRS) harvested 10,300 gutted weight tonnes of Atlantic salmon in Norway in the fourth quarter of 2021 and a further 2,900 gwt in Iceland through its Arctic Fish subsidiary, it said in a trading update today.
For the full year, NRS harvested 49,600 gwt – 38,100 gwt in Norway and 11,500 gwt in Iceland.
NRS is now owned by Norwegian aquaculture, wellboats, shipping and service vessels company NTS ASA, which also owns salmon farmer Midt-Norsk Havbruk.
NTS has a goal of producing 100,000 tonnes a salmon a year within the next three to five years.
