SSPO hits back at accusations from anti-salmon farming campaign
In a press release, the S&TA claim they have published “yet more worrying evidence of widespread failure to control sea lice in the Scottish salmon-farming industry.”
In the statement they, amongst other things, claim that 30 per cent of farms were breaching the industry’s own CoGP sea-lice standards during the period for which sea-lice records were inspected last year.
Responding to the press release from S&TA Scott Landsburgh, chief executive of SSPO, says: “Yet again this single-issue pressure group misinterprets figures to suit its own lobbying ends.
“We voluntarily and routinely publish information like this to help people understand more about fish farming and it is extremely disappointing to see the game-fishing lobby continue with its on-going campaign of misinformation.”
