Novartis Animal Health has just launched its new vaccine, Birnagen Forte® 4, a immunization boosting vaccine to combat four of Chile’s most problematic fish diseases: SRS, IPN, aeromones, and vibrio ordalii. This product was preceded by the Birnagen Forte® 3 that was released in February. According to a Visionacuicola, Novartis sales manager Constantino Siderakis states, “This is the second vaccine of the Birnagen Forte® Series, which we hope to complete with the release of a third vaccine in November. By providing different combinations of antigens with three multi-purpose vaccines, we are able to cover an entire spectrum of diseases affecting today’s aquaculture industry.” The principal characteristic of the Birnagen Forte® 4 is a formula of three recombinant antigens to combat SRS and provide a wider range of immune protection. In addition the dosage required is a microdosage of only 0.05 ml, which minimizes the adverse affects of vaccination such as appetite loss and fungus growth following fish handling.
