Published Modified

Macduff has already delivered two 170 ton barges earlier this year to Loch Kishorn on the west coast of Scotland, with another barge to follow in four weeks and a second landing craft is also being built at the yard.

The new landing craft, Julie Anne, is 14.95 metres long and 5.6 metres wide and is capable of carrying 21 tonnes of deck cargo, it has an engine capacity of 236kw.

Jim Gallagher, Managing Director of Scottish Sea Farms, commented: “This latest vessel is destined for our newly reopened site at Fiunary in the Sound of Mull.  This contract with Macduff is part of a huge investment programme, as we continue to develop new and existing sites to meet the growing demand for our quality salmon, both here and abroad.  This investment is part of our commitment to putting something back into the Scottish economy wherever possible and supporting Scottish suppliers whenever we can.”

The partnership between Macduff Shipyards and Scottish Sea Farms has recently been recognised by a shortlisting in the Aquaculture Supplier category in the forthcoming Crown Estate Aquaculture Excellence Awards.
