Farne Salmon unveils new £1.2 Million facility and creates 32 jobs

The new facility will produce a range of specially developed Fish in a Flash products for the company’s largest customer, Tesco. Craig Walker, Chief Executive of Labeyrie Fine Foods UK, the parent company of Farne said: “This is a major investment for our business and is a testament to our strong relationship with our partner Tesco.  Over the last thirty years Farne Salmon has grown from strength to strength and now employs over 600 people providing valuable income that goes back into the local community.  Our success can be attributed to our people who are passionate about creating high quality, innovative fish products for all our customers.” The new facility was officially opened on Monday August 5th by Michael Moore MP. Mr Moore commented:  “It was great to be able to open the new facility and see first hand the expertise and innovation of the team at Farne Salmon. It’s fantastic news for the local economy that 32 jobs have been created as a result of this investment which just goes to show how businesses like Farne Salmon are thriving. "I want to congratulate everyone at the company for all their hard work in making this happen and wish them every success for the future.” Employing over 600 people, Farne Salmon is the largest private sector employer in the Scottish Borders. Founded in 1982 the company is committed to growing and developing its business within the region. The company’s Duns factory is one of the largest salmon smoking facilities in Europe and in addition to producing smoked salmon, Farne Salmon also offers a growing range of “added value” products for customers, including the new Tesco Fish in a Flash range.
