Easy access mort removal
Lift Up has already placed a stock of its popular mort extraction systems at Knox’s base in Ayrshire and the Scottish net supplier is also stocking all the major components, in order to further improve the service and supply of both systems and parts.
Until now Lift Up has shipped all of its products direct from its factory in Norway, with lead-time often being measured in weeks due to the logistics involved. Under the new agreement, however, Knox will be able to dispatch spare parts or full systems on a daily basis from its warehouse in Kilbirnie.
Customers can either contact Lift Up in Norway for quotes or to place orders, or can deal directly with Knox.
Lift Up, which produces air-lift mort removal systems, has been contemplating a strategic partner in the UK for some time and Knox proved to fit the bill.
Lift Up’s Jørgin Gunnarsson explained to Fish Farming Expert: “Lift Up invented the air-lift mort collector more than 25 years ago, and we have supplied thousands world-wide. Scotland is our biggest export market, and most of the major fish farmers in Scotland and Ireland use our equipment. What effect our cooperation with Knox will have, is guesswork at this time, but our loyal customers in Scotland have requested a local presence, and we believe that Knox will prove to be a valued partner, given their good standing in the market.
“Lift Up mort collectors are used in nets made by all net makers, and we work with all net suppliers to ensure that the nets are reinforced and manufactured to utilise our equipment. Knox have for a long time shown a keen interest in our collectors and we have had a good rapport with them”.
In a press release he explained: “It was desirable for us to not only find a partner with adequate storage facilities, an established delivery network, but also a knowledgeable sales team who could complement the sale of our products. W&J Knox Ltd has traded continuously from their site in Kilbirnie since 1778 and have an enviable reputation in the salmon farming industry.”
