Company accused of selling half-decomposed fish
Vega Salmon argued that they prepaid USD 1.17 million to Multiexport for 300 tonnes of premium quality salmon between August and October 2009 but when they received the product in Germany realized that the salmon was unfit for human consumption. “It is a disgusting fish,” said the lawyer of the foreign company, Francisco Pinochet.
The Danish firm called for pretrial precautionary measures to the Second Civil Court of Puerto Montt in an attempt to later present an action ex delicto (claim for damages).
According to local daily El Llanquihue, before these legal actions, Vega Salmon tried to contact Multiexport without any positive response.
