The visitors were not only able to learn about the provenance of Scottish salmon but also taste the end product, washed down with a local dram.

Georgina Wright, head of sales at Marine Harvest Scotland, told Fish Farming Expert: “The smoked salmon and whisky tasting, with our local Ben Nevis Distillery here in Fort William was a great success and was enjoyed by visitors to Showcasing Scotland who had travelled from France, Dubai and China”.

The farm visit was part of an event was hosted by Scottish Development International (SDI), which took place at Gleneagles hotel on 6-9th October.

"The whole event provided a valuable insight into the international market place which involved 99 Scottish food and drink companies having access to UK and global buyers. Overall 1,000 to 1,200 meetings took place based on a speed dating system, a very busy place!" Georgina explained.
