Aquavision gets underway

Aquavision, which kicked off in Stavanger yesterday, is bringing together leaders of aquaculture and industry suppliers, who hope to share experiences that contribute to improved performance of the sector.

The sun shone on Stavanger as the 2016 installment of Aquavision got underway. Representatives of Nutreco and Skretting, who organize the meeting, welcomed major players from the global aquaculture industry. The event, which takes place between 13 and 15 June, expects to attract about 450 attendees from 34 different countries.

Speakers include three top executives of the salmon industry: Alf-Helge Aarskog, CEO of Marine Harvest; Yu Sato, Chairman of Cermaq Group; Avrim Lazar of the Global Salmon Initiative (GSI).

Expectations 

Gabriel Garcia, future CEO of Nutreco Iberia, said that the conference aims to expose the multiplicity of trends developing in markets related to aquaculture.

"We try to generate interest not only for the producers but also for all stakeholders,” he said. “Also we will analyze the evolution of the global protein business, and how markets and technologies progress, especially how they adapt to the environment ".

Meanwhile, Steven Rafferty, Skretting’s global salmon director, expects companies to talk about the reputation of the industry and to sustainably grow global aquaculture.
