SPAROS expands feed analysis services for fish farmers

Portuguese aquafeed developer SPAROS is expanding its Digital Nutrition portfolio with new on-demand solutions tailored to specific needs.

The company’s portfolio already includes the FEEDNETICS web app, designed to assess aquafeed impact on fish performance under real farm conditions, and which is being used as a virtual nutrition lab by its customers.

In 2020, SPAROS introduced the FiT feeding tables service. Tailored to each farm’s growth curve, it is designed to deliver precise feeding strategies that optimise feed conversion without compromising growth.

SPAROS said that building on these foundations, it now offers on-demand digital services, leveraging expertise in fish nutrition, data analysis, modelling, and user experience design. These services focus on farm performance optimisation and customer support for the aquafeed, additive, and ingredient sectors.

Custom products

“Today, our tools support key species such as Atlantic salmon, rainbow trout, Nile tilapia, seabream, seabass, and meagre. Customised calibrations are also available for other species, using real production data for exclusive customer use,” the company said in a press release.

SPAROS is piloting a new production planning tool in collaboration with Athens-based consultancy aquaManager and software developer BlueAnalytix. It is currently being tested by flatfish, seabream, and seabass farms, and the next trials will expand to tilapia farms in Africa.

Additionally, SPAROS said it is about to launch HATCHTOOLS, a trial management platform that streamlines fish and shrimp larvae research.
