Shetland service boat operator adds to aquaculture fleet
Shetland-based service and wellboat operator Johnson Marine Ltd has ordered a new service vessel from Norwegian shipyard Moen Marin AS.
The company, which owns eight wellboats and six service boats, has previously acquired several service vessels from Moen Marin for aquaculture service work in the rough waters surrounding Shetland.
The new vessel, due for delivery by spring 2019, is slightly larger than previous deliveries from Moen Marin. The 14.99 by 10 metre catamaran, a NabCat 1498/1000 MD, features a two-storey wheelhouse, and a safe and spacious work deck.
The vessel’s dimensions give room for two double cabins, one single cabin, lounge, galley, wardrobe and sanitary facilities. The wheelhouse offers a 360-degree view.
Ivor Johnson from Johnson Marine said the new addition to the fleet would support the company’s growth and commitment to supporting the aquaculture industry in Iceland. Johnson Marine harvests all the salmon grown in Iceland.
“Moen Marine vessels are fitted to a very high standard and offer excellent facilities and a working platform for our crews,” said Johnson. “We have a great relationship with Moen Marine and will continue this into the future.”
