Gael Force creates jobs in global growth plan
Leading Scottish aquaculture supplier Gael Force has launched a recruitment drive as part of its long-term goal to double its workforce.
The new roles are senior positions in engineering and service support and represent a significant investment, said the company in a press release.
Candidates are being sought for the posts of service and support manager, senior product engineer, senior project engineer and project manager. All roles will be based at Gael Force’s head office in Inverness.
The company unveiled its five-year growth strategy in July, outlining plans to expand internationally, with a doubling of sales and staff numbers.
A Canadian outlet was opened last year at Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrador, and earlier this month Mike Staite was appointed as general manager, in charge of operations on both the east and west coasts of Canada.
Motivated
Gael Force, which currently employs about 250 people across all its locations, is motivated ‘by the strong desire to partner with and support our customers in achieving high biological performance as profitably and sustainably as possible,’ said group founder and managing director Stewart Graham.
‘As a trusted supply partner in the sector we see the senior roles we have created as being vital to that,’ he added.
‘By recruiting the right individuals who share the same ambition and customer focus as Gael Force, I’m highly confident that we will create an even stronger platform to deliver a level of product and service excellence that our customers will recognise as world class and value adding in supporting them to meet their aims.’
Graham, who co-chairs the Aquaculture Industry Leadership Group, set up to drive growth in the sector in Scotland, welcomed his new manager in Canada.
Exports
‘Mike’s experience across engineering disciplines and project management will help us not only support our customers and existing projects, but also to develop additional innovative key offerings into our range which will benefit all our customers, not just in Canada, but in Scotland and future export markets too.’
Staite will manage the construction, commissioning, and installation of new Gael Force feed barges in Atlantic Canada and British Columbia, as well as the establishment of an office and service facility in BC.
He will also lead the business development and establishment of a steel barge building production facility in Atlantic Canada.
