Madeira lays out welcome mat for aquaculture conference delegates
Authorities of the island of Madeira have highlighted the efforts made to make travel as straightforward as possible for people attending the European Aquaculture Society’s (EAS) annual conference, Aquaculture Europe (AE2021), next week.
Visitors to the island who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 with European Medicines Agency approved brands, and those who have recovered from Covid-19 (with proof up to 180 days of validity) will not require testing.
For visitors who have not been vaccinated, a green corridor exists at Madeira airport for those who arrive with a negative PCR test done within 72 hours.
Free PCR test
“Alternatively, non-vaccinated visitors can take a free test at the airport on arrival. One free PCR test per visitor is offered, to be taken on arrival or departure, with results in 6 to 12 hours,” said VisitMadeira in a press release.
“There are also discounts on offer for any further tests required, with PCR tests from €90 and antigen tests from €18 available in pharmacies throughout the island. Antigen testing is required for all participants before they can register for the event, and this is being provided free of charge at the entrance to AE2021.”
The EAS is advising conference attendees who meet entry requirements to save their free PCR test for their departure/return home.
1,000 registrations
AE2021 is European aquaculture’s largest scientific and technical event and runs from October 4-7. Earlier this month organisers reported that more than 1,000 people had registered for this year’s event.
