Youth join the Canadian Aquaculture Industry Alliance
Fifteen young men and women under the age of 35 have been chosen to join the Canadian Aquaculture Industry Alliance(CAIA).
They range in background from data scientists, hatchery technicians to entrepreneurs and environmentalists.
The new councils main responsibility is to share the perspective of the youth with senior members of the community, government officials and media.
“They consist of a selected, representative group of youth who are excited and eager to share what they’ve experienced in their workplace, industry or community. Youth councils are viewed as respected advisors who provide their input, make recommendations, and spearhead initiative.
We want to better connect young professionals in our sector who can be ambassadors for the sector, and also advise CAIA about the sector and the interests of young people”, said a post on the CAIA website.
The group of fifteen were selected through an application process that included an interview. Potential candidates were chosen based on involvement in regional initiatives, involvement in industry wide initiates, research projects and volunteer efforts.
