Irish eyes on effects of climate change on aquaculture
Climate change, survivability and genetics were among some of the challenges facing the Irish aquaculture sector being discussed at the recent Irish Aquaculture Technology and Innovation Platform (IATIP) seminar held earlier this month.
The networks or platforms have been established to help identify the latest aquaculture research in Ireland and Europe to share with the industry and to inform aquaculture policy decisions being made at European level.
The Irish branch of the network, established by Ireland’s seafood development agency Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM), is one of 14 such networks in Europe and is overseen by the European Aquaculture Technology and Innovation Platform.
Thirty-five delegates including aquaculture producers, researchers and policy makers attended the event held in West Dublin.
