Entries open for Aquaculture Awards 2024
Entries have opened for the Aquaculture Awards 2024, which will be presented at the Macdonald Resort, Aviemore, on May 15 during the Aquaculture UK trade show held in the town.
The deadline for entries is Monday, February 12, and finalists will be revealed by the judges on March 6.
There are 13 categories is this year’s awards, which are organised by Aquaculture UK owner Diversified Communications UK.
The categories are: Rising Star; Collaboration; Innovation; Sustainability; Community Initiative; Farmer of the Year; Animal Welfare; Aquaculture Supplier of the Year; Best New Start-Up; Best Producer of the Year; Unsung Hero; Outstanding Contribution; Judge’s Special Recognition.
Joining the team of judges this year is independent aquaculture auditor and consultant Malcolm Johnstone, a well-known and respected sector figure through his work over many years with RSPCA Assured.
Host on the night will be Scottish comedian Fred MacAulay.
Cheri Arvonio, event director, said: "The Aquaculture Awards bring everyone together for an evening of celebration and entertainment, while highlighting the sector’s most remarkable people.
"We would like to hear about all those who have gone the extra mile in the past 12 months, be they industry leaders, dedicated farm staff, technical visionaries, or organisations making scientific breakthroughs and driving the sector forward."
The annual awards, which are free to enter and open to the entire industry, are held every other year at the Macdonald Resort in Aviemore, to coincide with Aquaculture UK. Other venues are chosen during years when the trade show is not taking place.
