Fisa will stage the next edition of the trade fair on March 2-4 in Puerto Montt, Chile. It will also create a digital platform, AquaSur Connect, to create a networking space for the aquaculture industry between now and March.

Cristián Solis, general manager of Aqua Sur’s former owner, Editec Group, said the change of ownership would allow Chile’s aquaculture sector to project itself internationally though the GL Events group.

He added: “We are very happy to have completed this business, because it is a recognition of the trajectory of AquaSur, its prestige and tradition.”

Business opportunities

Francisco Sotomayor, general manager of Fisa and GL Events in Chile, said: “For us the acquisition of AquaSur is a tremendous challenge, given that aquaculture is one of the important economic sectors in our country.”

Sotomayor said Fisa was introducing AquaSur Connect “in order to maintain the exchange of knowledge and generation of business opportunities until we meet again in the face-to-face version of the fair that will take place between March 2 and 4, 2022 in Puerto Montt”.

And he said that people who want to be part of this platform will be able to access a subscription that will allow them “to have a permanent space for networking with stakeholders in the sector”.

“It will also have a marketplace open throughout the year where companies will be able to exhibit products and services with fast and advanced search filters for easy navigation that aims to simplify life in the supply areas and the entire chain of companies in the sector,” concluded Sotomayor.
