Aquachile's volumes drop 9%
Aquachile expects to harvest 9 per cent fewer salmonids in Q1 2016 compared to the same period of the previous year, driven mainly by a 29 per cent decrease in its harvest of coho salmon.
According to a report recently published by Chile's largest salmon producer, its harvests of salmonids has fallen from 31,363 tonnes in Q1 2015 to 28,572 tonnes in Q1 2016.
The company expects a 0.6 per cent increase in its Atlantic salmon harvest - from 20,092 tonnes in Q1 2015, to 20,211 tonnes this year. By contrast, it expects a 21.6 per cent decrease in rainbow trout harvests, from 4,636 tonnes in Q1 2015 to 3,633 this in Q1 this year; while its coho harvests are due to decrease 28.8 per cent, from 6,636 tonnes in Q1 2015, down to 4,728 in the same period this year.
