Magnus Johannesen began his new role as Grieg Seafood's new chief financial officer today.

Atle Harald Sandtorv has resigned as CFO. He is replaced by Magnus Johannesen.

The change was announced by Norway and Canada salmon farmer Grieg Seafood in a stock exchange release on Tuesday.

Magnus Johannesen, who is currently the global finance officer at Grieg Seafood, has been appointed as the new chief financial officer and will begin his new role today. He joined Grieg in October last year.

Chief executive Andreas Kvame thanked Sandtorv for his contributions to Grieg Seafood over the past 15 years. 

Extensive experience

"He has been a central part of the company's development and growth. At the same time, I am very pleased that Magnus Johannesen is taking over the role. His experience and expertise make him well-suited to lead the company's financial strategy going forward," said Kvame.

Johannesen is said to have extensive experience in finance and financial management and has held various leadership roles in the company. 

Grieg Seafood is one of Norway's top six salmon producers by volume, harvesting approximately 72,100 gutted weight tonnes in 2023, of which 51,200 gwt was harvested in Norway, 17,700 gwt in British Columbia (Pacific Canada) and 3,200 gwt in Newfoundland (Atlantic Canada).
