Salmon price back in the doldrums
The spot price of Norwegian salmon fell by NOK 5.69 to NOK 45.01 per kilo in the first week of this year – NOK 33.30 lower than at the same time last year - according to statistics provider Akvafakta.
Norway exported 19,349 tonnes of salmon (round weight) in week 53. This week was not in 2019, so there is no direct basis for comparison. In the last week in 2019, week 52, however, there were exports of 11,947 tonnes.
A total of 1,295,184 tonnes of salmon were exported by Norway in 2020, an increase of 3% compared with the 1,257,648 tonnes sold in 2019.
