Salmon spot price edged back up last week

After six consecutive weeks of decline, the spot price of Norwegian salmon rose slightly last week (week 31) by NOK 1.14/kg to NOK 72.37 (£6.23) per kg, according to industry statistics provider Akvafakta.

That price is NOK 17.44/kg better than the same week last year.

The average salmon price so far this year is NOK 90.80/kg, compared to NOK 57.79/kg for the same period last year.

The export price (average price product weight FOB border) for fresh salmon also edged up by just under 50 cents in week 31 to NOK 75.82/kg.

Last week’s export volume of 26,795 tonnes (round weight) was the year’s second largest, beaten only by week 4 with 26,812 tonnes. However, the volume was 3% below the same week in 2021.

So far this year, Norway has exported 748,000 tonnes of salmon, 5% lower than last year at the same time.
