Norway salmon spot price slips but stays high

The spot price of Norwegian farmed salmon fell by NOK 5.72 (£0.48) per kilo last week, but that weekly average was still the third highest ever.

According to salmon industry statistics provider Akvafakta, the spot price in week 9 was NOK 84.69 / kg, which was NOK 22.03 / kg over the same week last year.

The average salmon price so far this year is NOK 77.69 / kg, compared to NOK 48.16 for the same period in 2021.

Exports

Norway’s export volumes have fallen slightly in recent weeks, and last week 24,481 tonnes of salmon (round weight) were sent abroad, 7.4% less than the same week a year ago.

So far this year, Norway has exported 234,000 tonnes of salmon, 3.6% fewer than in the same period last year.
