Norway salmon price nudges up as exports stay high

The price of Norwegian salmon crept upwards a fraction last week at the same time as huge volumes continued to be exported, according to the industry statistics provider Akvafakta.

The salmon spot price rose by NOK 0.15 / kg in week 37, up to NOK 49.30 (£4.18) per kilo. That price is NOK 3.78 / kg over the same week last year.

The average price so far this year is NOK 56.81 / kg, compared to 58.14 at the same time a year ago.

35,229 tonnes exported

Norway exported 35,229 tonnes of salmon last week, almost as much as the all-time high of 35,509 tonnes recorded the week before.

Last week’s export volume is 22% larger than the same week in 2020.

So far this year, Norway has exported 986,000 tonnes of salmon, 18% more than at the same time last year.
