Third best salmon price of all time in Norway

It was a strong start to the year for salmon prices. However, volumes were not at the upper end of the scale.

The spot price for Norwegian farmed salmon was NOK 129.50 (£9.24) per kilo in week 1 of this year, according to industry statistics provider Akvafakta. That is NOK 13.63 per kg more than the final week of 2024, and NOK 15.36 above the first week of that year.

The price is the third highest weekly price ever, and the highest start to a year ever. The average spot price ended at NOK 94.04 per kilo in 2024, compared to NOK 93.07 in 2023.

Exports

Norway exported 16,724 tonnes (round weight) of salmon in week 1. This is approximately 40% below the average weekly volume in 2024, and 11.4% below the same week last year.

Feed

As of week 48 last year, total feed sales (salmon and trout) were 2.0 million tonnes. This is a total of 2% more than in the same period last year. For salmon it was up 1%, while for trout it was up 8%.
