Former PM's speech writer is named chief commercial officer for AKVA
Global aquaculture supplier AKVA group has named former political speech writer Ståle Økland as its chief commercial officer (CCO), a newly created role.
Økland is currently executive vice president for communications and sustainability at AKVA, which is headquartered in Klepp in Rogaland, Norway.
The company, which has offices in 12 locations outside Norway, including Scotland, Canada, Tasmania, and Chile, said Økland will play an important role in further developing the company’s strategy and commercial approach, and will be responsible for leading the strategic marketing work.
“We see great opportunities for AKVA group and will strengthen marketing efforts across business areas and countries. This requires a holistic approach and a strong strategic focus. Ståle will lead this work and will be an important spokesperson for the company’s commercial vision,” said AKVA group chief executive Knut Nesse.
Worked for Solberg
Økland is in his fourth year at AKVA group. Previously, he worked for more than 20 years in marketing, communications and politics, including as deputy mayor of Time municipality, advisor to the Conservative Party in the Storting (Parliament), and as speechwriter for former Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg. He has also authored seven books. In his new job at AKVA group, he will have a more senior role but will retain his responsibility for communications and sustainability.
“AKVA group has been a pioneering company for many decades and is constantly developing. I thank you for the trust and look forward to contributing to further developing AKVA group’s market position through good analyses, clear messages and strong relationships with industry leaders and customers,” said Økland.
“If the industry is to grow, we must solve sustainability challenges through innovation, and here AKVA group’s solutions and technology play a central role.”
