Abstract submission deadline extended for African aquaculture conference

Published

The deadline for submission of abstracts to a major aquaculture conference in Africa has been extended until April 15.

World Aquaculture Safari 2025 will be held at Speke Resort Munyonyo, Kampala, Uganda, from June 24-27. The venue, which is 38 kilometres from Entebbe airport, is on the shores of Lake Victoria, the world’s second largest freshwater lake that is roughly the size of Ireland.

The conference is being organised by the African Chapter of the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) and by the WAS itself.

East Africa is the fastest growth area for aquaculture on the African continent, and a world leading region in seaweed farming.

A sector on the rise

Themed “Aquaculture on the Rise”, the conference is expected to bring together nearly 2,000 participants from around the world. The event aims to address some of the sector’s challenges whilst showcasing new technologies for sustainable and resilient aquaculture practices.

There is an accompanying trade show that is expected to feature nearly 150 booths.

The EU-funded TRUEFISH Project, overseen by the Lake Victoria Fisheries Organisation (LVFO) is the lead sponsor for the event.

World Aquaculture Safari 2025 follows on from WAS African Chapter conferences in Egypt, Zambia, and most recently Tunisia.
