Aquaculture Europe Online programme outlined
The European Aquaculture Society (EAS) has released the programme grid for its AE2020 ONLINE event running from April 12-15. A more detailed programme with individual presentation titles will be published just before the event.
The main event starts on Tuesday, April 13 but that is preceded on Monday, April 12 by RAS@EAS, which will feature speakers looking at the increasingly important area of recirculating aquaculture systems.
On Tuesday and Thursday there will be three sessions running at the same time, while on Wednesday there will be four parallel sessions. The EAS Student Spotlight Award will be presented after the official opening on Tuesday morning.
Catch up afterwards
All presentations will be available to attendees for 30 days after the event, so that people who would like to attend two or more sessions running at the same time will be able to catch up on those they missed.
Subjects covered include:
- the circular economy, resource use and environmental footprint,
- emerging species
- hatchery practices
- nutrition
- disease prevention and treatment (including parasites)
- offshore aquaculture
- climate change
- research and innovation in the UK
- fish welfare
- micro- and macroalgae
- selective breeding
- genomics
E-Market
The event will also feature an e-Market, where vendors and media partners will have a dedicated place online to present their products, link to their website and have a chat-box to interact with attendees and set up meetings.
Close to 1,000 attendees are expected to attend the event. Those who register before March 15 qualify for the Early Bird registration rate of €125 for EAS members, €225 for non-members and €30 for students.
AE2020 was due to take place in Cork, Ireland last autumn but was postponed until April because of the Covid-19 pandemic, and later transferred online when it became clear large-scale gatherings wouldn’t be possible by then.
Aquaculture Europe 2021 is still scheduled to go ahead in Madeira on October 5-8.
World Aquaculture North America & Aquaculture Canada 2021 will take place in St John’s, Newfoundland, Canada from September 26-29, and World Aquaculture 2021 will be held in Merida, Mexico from November 15-19.
