Ace Aquatec adds to Norway team ahead of Aqua Nor
Dundee based Ace Aquatec has strengthened its international team with a new appointment in Norway.
The company, which opened its Norwegian office last year, has recruited Unn Eilen Vik as the country’s sales manager, joining Ace’s regional manager for Northern Europe, Preben Imset Matre.
Vik, who starts officially in October, will represent the company, alongside Matre, at Aqua Nor in Trondheim next week.
She was previously global sales and marketing director at IntraFish and sales and marketing manager at Atlantic Seafish.
She said: ‘Aqua Nor is such a staple event in the aquaculture diary, it’s so important for companies to attend and have a presence there.
‘I first heard of Ace Aquatec when they won the innovation award at the event and have been following their journey ever since.’
Latest research
Matre added: ‘It’s an exciting time for Unn to become part of the Norway team as we go to the market with our latest research and developments.
‘Unn’s enthusiasm for the aquaculture sector is apparent when you speak to her, so we’re glad the event [Aqua Nor] will be hosted physically for people to meet her.’
Ace Aquatec won the prestigious Aqua Nor innovation award in 2017 for its humane electric fish stunner.
The company has since refined its technology and now offers two versions of the stunner and two humane culling devices based on the same principle.
Ace is also at final trial stage with two new products to add to the processing system. One is the Ace Ejector Pump, which uses only gentle water flow – with no propellors or vacuum – to guide the fish towards the electric stunner.
High precision
The other is the Ace Waterjet Bleeder, which relies on automated high-precision jets of water and a robotic arm, instead of traditional physical blades, to cut and bleed the fish effectively when the fish exit the stunner.
Ace Aquatec will also be promoting its biomass camera, currently on trial at four Scottish salmon farms and due for commercial launch in November.
As well as attending the Aqua Nor exhibition, the Ace Aquatec team will be taking part in a virtual Aqua Nor event being run at the same time.
