Norway: Man falls into feed silo at Grieg site
A worker has been taken to hospital after falling from a ladder into a silo on a feed barge at a Norwegian salmon farm.
The incident happened at a site in Rennesøy in Rogaland this morning. The site is operated and owned by Grieg Seafood Rogaland and Skretting.
Kristina Furnes, communications manager at Grieg Seafood, said that the work accident occurred at the company’s Dale II site.

“Earlier today we had an incident at the Dale II facility in Rogaland, where an employee fell from a ladder into a feed silo on the feed barge,” Furnes said in a press statement.
“When the incident happened, we immediately contacted a health professional who helped get the person transported to hospital. The person is not seriously injured but has suffered minor injuries.”
She added: “We are going to take a full look at this incident to find out what has happened and to make sure it doesn’t happen again. We will work with all the authorities involved to get all the facts on the table.”
Police in the region had earlier tweeted that fire and health personnel were giving the injured man first aid at the scene and that he was due to be airlifted from the scene by Sea King helicopter.
