Snapping up Vaki

Pentair has announced that it has signed an agreement to buy Vaki, the Icelandic firm best known for its fish counters and measuring frames.

The US behemoth hopes the transaction, which is expected to be completed later this year, will strengthen its business by expanding its range of systems, products and services in the growing market of aquaculture.

Pentair reported that: "Vaki is oriented in the design and manufacture of elements for fish handling and counting and classifying a variety of applications for aquaculture. Vaki also develops and delivers innovative technology for estimating biomass in aquaculture systems, providing the user diligent information to maximize operational efficiency, facilitate resource planning and optimize decision-making.”

Vaki currently sells products in more than 50 countries.
