Scholarships still up for grabs

The University of St Andrews still has a limited number of scholarships available for its online postgraduate MSc in Sustainable Aquaculture, which is starting in September 2016.

The online course, which is now in its sixth year, is designed to be self-paced – with a team of tutors available to help and answer questions, and assessment deadlines are flexible – making it possible to complete even for those in full time employment. It covers both vertebrate and invertebrate species and develops the students’ knowledge of markets and global trade, as well as their understanding of sustainable aquaculture practices.

Each scholarship covers 70% of the £19,400 course fee and is provided by the Scottish Funding Council, TheFishSite.com and the University.

Applicants must reside in Scotland (England, Wales and Northern Ireland are not eligible) or the EU, and be eligible to study for the qualification. The deadline for applications is 29th July.

Dr Neil Hazon, course director at the University of St Andrews, told Fish Farming Expert: “We still have a small number of scholarship places available for the MSc course and would be delighted to consider applications from graduates from not just Scotland, but across Europe. It’s a unique opportunity to receive generous funding to help obtain a highly regarded aquaculture qualification, one that can even be combined with full- or part-time employment.

“TheFishSite.com provides the online learning platform for students, giving them access to examination information, course information and relevant industry news and articles to ensure students are aware of the latest research and developments in the aquaculture industry.”
