The company, which part-owns one hatchery in its native country as well as one in Iceland, is now in the final stages of choosing a location, somewhere in Troms and Finnmark.

Norvik previously worked as the production manager for Marine Harvest Norway AS, where he was responsible for eight freshwater sites.

“NRS are working on many interesting projects now, and I'm excited by the fresh challenge after 16 years at Marine Harvest,” he told kyst.no

In his new role he will be responsible for developing the company's smolt activity and be central to the planning and development of the new recirc facility.

“Due to the extensive work of getting land, permits and approval from various agencies, I think it will be at least two years until we’re able to stock our first fish. The whole process will first go through and be approved by the Norwegian Water Resources Energy, and then county council,” he elaborates to kyst.no
